Radisson Red
The Radisson Red, also known as Silo 6, is located in the Silo Precinct of Cape Town, adjacent to other large-scale developments such as the Zeitz MOCCA. The hotel boasts 252 rooms, restaurants, and conference facilities spread across multiple levels.
One of the most striking features of the building is its skeletal structure that rises from the podium, which serves as a nod to the area’s industrial history. The facade comprises textured masonry, excitingly contrasting the sleek aluminium punch windows. This juxtaposition creates a tension that adds to the building’s visual interest.
The hotel presents a dynamic presence in the Silo Precinct with its bold architectural gestures and unique features. With its many punched window reveals, the west facade serves as a “wall” that defines the precinct’s perimeter. On the other hand, the east facade appears to float effortlessly above the podium, enhanced by the perforated brick screens.

“The rough brick facades are juxtaposed by the clean lines of the large aluminium window reveals that have become synonymous with the design of the building.”
